A word from the School Board

What will happen if this referendum fails?

To address financial challenges, the School Board is exploring budget cuts, including transitioning to a center school model, reducing bus routes, shortening the school year, and cutting staff. While these steps aim to streamline operations, they may place additional burdens on families through increased transportation responsibilities and changes in educational access.

Checks & Balances

What cost-saving measures is the district taking?

EASD is currently spending $2,404 per student less than the statewide average. In order to operate at that lower expenditure level and provide high-quality instructional programs, we have implemented a number of budget-cutting measures, including:

  • Refinancing & Prepaying long-term debt to reduce interest payments and future debt obligations

  • Renegotiating/rebidding vendor contracts for lower costs on services and supplies/equipment

  • Implemented audits/efficiency studies to lower costs and improve operation efficiency (ie, phone system, cleaning systems)

  • Participating in Co-op purchasing groups to leverage contract terms and reduce costs

  • Implemented various energy use strategies to save on annual utility costs
