Elkhorn Area Middle School 6th Graders, as part of their PLTW Green Architecture Science class, have worked with Wausau Homes Elkhorn since 2018 to provide a hands-on building project that brings what they're learning in the classroom to life. The Picnic Table Project in 2024 was such a success that they are now offering these picnic tables to the public for purchase. Due to the weather forecast for tomorrow afternoon, February 12, 2025, CCA and the EASD will be called off. Please see check your email for information specific to Gateway classes and the Edge Program. We will not have much snow in the morning, but heavy snowfalls are expected from noon through the end of the school day, making the end of school and evening commutes dangerous. As such, we are calling CCA off. Be safe, and hopefully, everything will be cleared up for Thursday.

Due to the weather forecast for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21, 2025, school and all school activities will be called off. The National Weather Service predicts very cold wind chills as low as 33 below zero. The dangerously cold wind chill could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Classes will resume Wednesday.

SAVE THE DATE: The Annual Elkhorn Autism Support Team (EAST) Chili & Soup Cook-Off is Thursday, February 6, from 5-7 p.m. at Elkhorn Area Middle School. Over 30 soups and chilis will be available! Online auction starts January 30.

How will an Operating Referendum affect taxes? The estimated tax impact on this structured referendum would be $25 per $100,000 of property value and will increase each year for the four-year phase-in. The estimated tax impact after four years is $100 per $100,000 of property value. To calculate the estimated yearly net increase in EASD school taxes for a home worth $300,000, multiply by three (3). In year five, 2028-29, the Operational Referendum tax impact plateaus - no longer increasing but rather staying at a consistent level.
